What does the world look and feel like from the perspective of a tiny, newborn lamb? Through this book, human readers can get a glimpse.
The book introduces the Saukonmutka Stories series of lamb books by Meiju Niskala. The stories were born on Niskala’s beloved farm by the Iijoki River, where she lives alongside her own flock of sheep. The series is grounded in a strong posthumanist philosophical perspective, through which Niskala aims to foster understanding and empathy for other-than-human beings.
The illustrations for A Sheep Named Ii and the design of the entire series are by Jenni Erkintalo, who has also collaborated with Niskala on several of her previous book projects.
